simsim Privacy Policy

simsim is an app for people who live, work or visit in a community, such as a residential compound, a workplace, a school or a venue. It lets you show your ID at the gate, send guest passes, follow news from your community, request services and see your bills. This policy explains what we collect, why, who receives it, and the choices you have.

Our promises

• We don't sell your personal information.
• We don't use it for advertising, or to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
• We don't create or keep face templates or any other biometric data.
• We don't read or keep your religion from your ID.

Who we are

simsim is operated by Groundrules, Plot 124, First Mall, First Sector, Banks Complex, South 90th Street, Fifth Settlement, New Cairo, Cairo, Egypt ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@simsim.id.

Your community also sees some of your information. Each community (for example, your compound's management) decides who can join, manages memberships, units, gates, bills and announcements, and is responsible for how it uses what it sees about its members. We provide the service it uses to do that.

What we collect

• Account and profile: your mobile number, your name, and details you choose to add, such as your email, job title, date of birth, gender and photo.
• Identity verification, if you choose to verify: photos of your ID and a selfie, and information printed on your ID, such as your name, ID number, address and date of birth. While you take the selfie, the app checks on your phone that a real person is taking it; only the final photo is sent.
• Guests and contacts: the names and phone numbers of people you invite. If you allow access to your contacts, the app searches your phone book on your phone; only the contact you pick is sent.
• What you create: messages to your community, service requests, forms, agreements you sign, and things you save.
• From your community: your units, membership and role, bills and payments your community records, and gate entries by you or your guests.
• From your device: how you use the app, the app version, your device type, and identifiers needed for notifications and for the security of your ID.

How we use it

• To provide simsim: sign you in, show your ID, create and deliver guest passes, and show your community's news, bills and services.
• To verify your identity when you ask us to.
• To keep simsim secure and prevent misuse of IDs and passes.
• To understand how simsim is used and improve it.
• To contact you about your account and the service.
• To meet legal obligations.

Who receives it

• Your community's management, to run the community: your profile, units, membership, the passes you create, and what you send them.
• Your guests: a pass shows your name as the host and your community, not the guest's own details.
• Service providers who work on our behalf, for hosting and storage, sign-in and messaging, reading text on ID photos, analytics, app updates and notifications, email, and AI assistance in a community's inbox when that community turns it on. They may use your information only to provide their service to us. The current list is at simsim.id/privacy/providers.
• Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.
• A buyer or successor, if simsim is sold or merged; this policy would continue to apply.

Where it is processed

Your information may be processed outside Egypt by our service providers. We choose providers that protect it with appropriate safeguards, and it is always encrypted in transit.

How long we keep it

While your account is open, and afterwards only as long as needed for the purposes above or required by law. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information. Records your community relies on, such as past passes, gate entries, bills, payments and signed agreements, stay with the community without your name.

Your rights

You can see and update your profile in the app, change the app's permissions in your phone's settings, and delete your account in the app (More → Profile → Delete account) or as described at simsim.id/delete-account. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, at hello@simsim.id. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to Egypt's Personal Data Protection Center.

Children

You must be at least 13 to use simsim.

Security

We protect your information with measures that suit its sensitivity, including encryption in transit, private storage for ID photos, and access limited to people who need it.

Changes

When we update this policy we change the date above. For significant changes, we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
